Springbok centurion Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira, who will be watching the Test series from the comfort of his own “home stadium”, is the voice of the new campaign ad, which was launched by SA Rugby earlier on Thursday to combat the fact that spectators are not allowed to attend the stadiums for the three highly-anticipated Tests in the Castle Lager Lions Series.

The highly emotive piece sees Beast encouraging fans to turn the country into their stadium, to transform their lounges into suites and their couches into front row seats. Now, more than ever, the call is to bring the country together, under a united call and to support the Springboks as they take on the combined best of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Fans will also have the chance to have their voices heard through a fan banner campaign being run on SA Rugby’s digital platforms. Bok supporters are encouraged to send through poster messages, slogans or colloquial encouragement that will see the funniest, most inspirational and motivational messages displayed around stadiums on match day.

Messages should be kept shorter than 15 words and can be added at this link: https://bit.ly/36zFIGu

In addition, three Springbok supporters will each win a home theatre system – including a 75” screen television – courtesy of Castle Lager, and a Home Wifi Router and data deal compliments of MTN, worth R50 000 each, simply by uploading a video to any of their digital platforms and by tagging the Springboks’ official pages and using #SpringbokSaturday and #MyHomeStadium

Fans will also be able to sing the national anthem via a video conference call facility which will beam supporters onto the in-stadium big screens before kick-off.

#SpringbokSaturday will kick off with a pre-game build up show on SA Rugby’s Facebook and YouTube platforms and will be everyone’s online ticket to all the action. The show will be hosted by Rikus de Beer, better known as Jonathan from Radio Raps, and Siv Ngesi.

The 90-minute online show will include international guests, celebrity interviews, behind the scenes footage of the Boks’ preparations and some exciting giveaways. The show will also take supporters into the cauldron prior to kick-off for a behind the scenes tour of the stadium.

When the Boks play, it’s not just Saturday – it’s #SpringbokSaturday!
