The South African domestic rugby season is due to kick off soon and a zero-tolerance stance towards head injuries and concussion will again be followed, with SA Rugby’s Blue Card concussion system in place for all matches where the head injury assessment (HIA) is not in play.

Springbok centurion Eben Etzebeth has been voted SA Rugby’s Player of the Year for 2022 following a string of excellent performances by the experienced lock last year, while Canan Moodie won the Young Player of the Year award and Nadine Roos was named Springbok Women’s Player of the Year.

SA Rugby has announced the exciting competition structure for the 2023 rugby season, which will see an expansion of the Currie Cup Premier Division, the addition of the Mzanzi Challenge comprising five international teams, as well as the plenty of provincial women’s and age-group rugby.
