The hard driving lock is expected to be named in the Boks’ final match-day 23 before they depart for the Rugby World Cup in Japan later this month.

Saturday’s match against Argentina kicks off at 17h05 and tickets are available from the Loftus Versfeld ticket office.

De Jager is leaving the Vodacom Bulls to continue his career overseas, but is relishing the chance for a fitting swansong at his beloved Loftus Versfeld.

“I didn’t have the chance to finish at Lotus as I would have wanted in Vodacom Super Rugby because of getting injured so I am pretty excited,” he said.

“Obviously it’s a massive opportunity for me this weekend, especially playing at Loftus – I love playing there.

“I’m really excited to be getting back on the field; getting some game time and I’m really starting to feel good again and getting some confidence. For me this weekend is just about going out and executing my job and hopefully each week I can develop and get better.

“Hopefully when the world cup comes round I’ll be somewhere nearby.”
